Biography[]
Vespula was hatched on the continent of Pyrrhia, his parents nowhere to be found. For hours he wandered the beach, sand between his talons. He was incredibly hungry, and had to hunt. Vespula found a rustling bush and a rabbit inside of it. That was his first meal. But it wasn't enough. He wouldn't be able to survive on his own.
The dragonet shriveled up on the beach, dying of starvation and dehydration.
Until... he was woken up by strange clicking noises. It was a dolphin, and it had fish for him. Vespula scampered towards the dolphin with what was left of his energy.
The dolphin nudged the fish towards Vespula. It was an enormous fish, enough to fill two dragonets. Vespula devoured it whole. The dolphin started swimming away, but Vespula didn't want it to leave. He jumped right in with the dolphin and swam after it.
But soon he ran out of oxygen. He began panicking and losing more air. But then he realized that he could breathe! He ran his talons along his gills. His photophores flashed brightly in amazement.
He followed the dolphin for hours, soon getting exhausted. Vespula started falling asleep, so the dolphin swam under him and began carrying him.
A few days later, they arrived at the deep palace. Vespula caused quite the commotion, as he had 4 wings and looked nothing like a normal Pyrrhian. But one ancient and wise SeaWing whose name was lost to time took him in.
Over the course of several years, Vespula learned how to read, write, speak dragon and aquatic, and hunt properly. But soon he forgot about the dolphin that saved his life.
Vespula was not sent to Jade Mountain Academy like a majority of the SeaWings suggested. Instead, he was kept deep underwater, occasionally going up for dragon language lessons.
Years later on Vespula's 9th birthday, the elderly SeaWing died of age. His last words to Vespula were in aquatic. He told him to look for the marked dolphin. He lifted his cloak, revealing a tattoo. Suddenly, Vespula remembered.
A lonely beach from long ago, littered with twigs and leaves and rocks and seashells. A small 4-winged dragonet walking in the clean sand, looking for food. It soon collapsed, but a dolphin soon arrived at the beach with a large fish in its jaws. It pushed it towards the dragonet, and it devoured it. On the side of a dolphin was the same marking the elderly SeaWing had.
Vespula asked the SeaWing if that was him, but it was too late. He had already passed.
So Vespula set out on a mission. He was going to look for the dolphin until the very day of his death. And so he did. To this day Vespula is still looking for the dolphin that was the only SeaWing who accepted him.
