Congratualations... you've been invited to the biggest event of the year... and it isn't even Halloween!
Just at the edge of Claw Hollow, there is a dreadfully dilapidated mansion that holds both exquisite splendor and awful secrets within. For several eventful nights, you will reside in the guest rooms of the mysterious host, who may have a horrifying secret themselves.
However, a horrible occurrence reveals that nobody in the mansion is safe. There is a killer on the loose.
A dragon could be killed at any moment... and that's not even the worst part. The worst part is that any of the guests could be the bloodstained murderer...
-I'd prefer it if your character was modern-futuristic or at least changed in the roleplay to be modern-futuristic.
-every character is either rich, influential, or has some other amazing talent. for example, an icewing mayor or a renowned scientist or something like that.
-no mary/gary sues. obviously.
-roleplayers on the more experienced side would be preferred. If you really think you can do this... well, give it your best shot :)
-there will be blood, but try not to go too descriptive on that kind of thing.
-I'd say about 2-6 paragraphs. And that doesn't mean one sentence on one line and another one the next. take your time with your posts.
-There will be a lot of... let's say "disposable" dragons available for deaths. for example, unless someone else wants their character to die, the corpse your own dragon finds must be one of the random dragons also invited to the event. most dead dragons will not be played by anyone, they'll just be there. towards the end of the roleplay, only the characters that do matter will be left to solve the mystery.
-There will be one murderer, and they must be pretty experienced in roleplay. murderers should be developed characters that have a motive.
-this is pretty common knowledge, but if your post is not a part of the rp, please put it in parentheses
-Your characters don't have to be super formal unless you want them to be :)
(I will be using Quintessence, who is no longer a bartender but now a well-known businesswoman. or something.)
The roleplay will start with the introduction dinner party. This the guests' first time in the mansion, which is a lot bigger than it looks. There are hundreds of rooms, and it's practically a maze. (feel free to be creative with the rooms! there could be a ballroom, a solarium, etc.)
(i would say RP order, but what if someone has to be absent for a amount of time? like if someone has to be gone for a day or even up to a week. Life tends to pick the worst times to spring stuff on us. so i say random order but if someone hasnt posted in a while we should wait)
(Hey, can I join with a dragon I haven't put a page in for yet. Her name is Aloe, she is a SandWing. She tends to be quite deceitful and cunning with her actions, though she would never do something to criminal such as murder, for that would put her multi-million dollar tycoon at a terrible risk. She tends to be thick headed, rude, and has the opinion that everyone elses status is lower than her own... (in other words, she thinks of everyone else as peasants) I will draw a quick picture of her so you can get the jist of what she looks like (only if my tablet works), but in short words, she is a pale white SandWing with black markings similar to Blister running down her neck. She wears lots of jewlery to show off her wealth. (oh wait is the spots full?) If the spots are full I understand, (sorry didn't realize there were set spots))
(So the rp will happen in the order listed on the first post. If someone in the order doesn't post for 48 hours we'll move to the next person and find a way to stick the absent person in there.. and sorry that you can't join Riot)
As the fog descended over Claw Hollow, Haizhen smiled. Looking out the large bay window of his office, a small light emerged onto the horizon. "That must be the first guest..." walking over to the large computer sat onto a desk, a complicated looking control panel to it's starboard. Removing a small key he had on his neck, he inserted it into some alien-looking keyhole. Grabbing a light, he walked down the now-revealed passageway into the darkness.
As the large vault door came into view, he scanned his keycard and entered. Looking over the large warehouse beneath him, He smiled. Walking over to the retrieval console, he typed in a string of numbers and waited. Grabbing the object that had been placed into the receptacle, Haizhen closed the vault door and walked away.
Stargazer had never been that much of a fan of party's, as a prince he was forced to attended far to many for his liking, but he would make this one. The architecture of this building is historic! And the host is supposed to be quite mysterious. He thought. He loved quite dinner party's, thery were the best type of party, if you asked Stargazer. No one yelling or being loud. All of that was left to him! He wondered if the other guests would like him, I mean they HAVE to! He's royalty! He checked his phone. A tad early, but that was ok. It made a good impression. Well they said it would be creepy but this is... He would not even allow himself to think he was scared by a house! But the fog and the musty smell as he walked up to the door was very off putting. He really wanted to get inside. Luckily the host had saw him coming and opened the door for him! "Haizen!" He said remembering his name. "Thank you for inviting me, may I come in?"
Hieroglyph followed behind Stargazer, keeping his head down. It was such a large mansion- He was used to going to parties but the building had such an ominous air, and the architecture looked absolutely archaic. Polished clean, but also like it could fall apart at any second. Hiero shook off those thoughts and tried to look forward instead of at the stone path he was walking along.
You're lucky to have been invited to such an exclusive party. Be more optimistic. He thought, waiting for his turn to greet the host at the door.
Addax came from behind the host. "Sorry just exploring this beautiful mansion." she said. "I'm Addax and I was invited." To be the murderer. She looked around the place and whistled a bit.
It was a tiny bit unsettling with silence and without screams filling the air. Addax yawned and decided to make small talk. "Beautiful day isn't it?" she reconized. Addax smiled trying to be convincing that she was on their side.
Quintessence shuddered as she looked up at the enormous mansion. It gave her the creeps, that was for sure. Okay, she thought, don't use words like "creeps." These people are proper. They know what it's all about. Quintessence turned to a random dragon beside her. "Are you excited for the dinner party tonight?" she inquired carefully, keeping her voice as clear as possible. "I heard there was going to be roasted crocodile. I've never had that before." (this random dragon is one of the non playable characters ig)
"Oh, I have. Several times. It's actually quite disgusting." Quintessence hoped the dragon couldn't see her wrinkling her nose at him. It was too dark for Quin to see what kind of dragon he was, but she didn't care much. "It's freezing out here. I've never been in such cold before," he complained.
"I'm an IceWing. I can't say that I've ever been cold at all." Quintessence smiled nastily and then turned away. Was that too mean? Maybe it wasn't mean enough. Whatever, I don't care. Everyone here is high on roasted lizards anyway. Her bar and brew business had only just become successful, but she had scored an invite to this lavish event, so she was good on the connections part. Quin waited patiently for the host to let her in. She couldn't wait to meet everyone.
Scythe had her head held high in the pale fog and her pitch black wings set in an upright positon in case for any reason she had to make a quick takeoff. She looked like a dark silhouette with her electric blue eyes peircing through the gray.
She calmly and smoothly walked to the large mansion, her expression was hidden by her pure white mask and her eyes did not betray her. She silently judged the decore and structure of the building, deeming it acceptable she entered it without much hesitation.
Scythe wasnt a fan of dinner parties. She found them too boisterous and unnecessary all in all, but it was blatantly rude to decline. Better to just stick around for a while then ditch while no one is looking, that way you dont get backlash.
She heard the comment about not knowing what cold even feels like, she rolled her eyes but made no move against her. Could just be a act anyway, and there was no purpose to arguing anyway.
Scythe's reputation in battle was near legendary, not quite so but enough that most knew her by name if not appearence. When she was not fighting on a Queens behalf she was treasure hunting, due to this she had ammassed a large amount of treasure.
She was by no means richer then the Queens, but with that said she had enough treasure to rival a lesser queens treasury. But her rep as a warrior and treasure had gotten her an invation, plus she may make a few allys, so this might not be a lost cause.
(the order is as follows: Host (Haizhen), Murderer (Addax), Quintessence, Scythe, Hieroglyph, Stargazer, Tonight. This order starts now, which means Hieroglyph is next, since Hieroglyph comes after Scythe.)
Hiero sighed and made his way to the door. He followed the proper etiquette when entering. He greeted the host and the other dragons clustered around inside the mansion by the door. He really hoped they couldn't tell that he was nervous. Dangit, self. You've been in these situations 763849 times before. Get a grip.
"I'm Hieroglyph, the world-renowned Archaeologist. I'm grateful to have been invited to this excursion (couldn't think of a better word lol) and hope to have a good time tonight." He said, falsely confident.
Ohhhh YES this is exactly what I hoped for! Look at all these characters! Treasure hunters, Archealogests, Royalty, and uh a barista. Ok that's ok they can be pretty interesting too. Stargazers thoughts jumbled around excitingly. He saw Tonight. "Oh my I don't think we have met! I'm Prince Stargazer, of the drift kingdom, 5th in line for the driftwing throne, you?" Stargazer didn't want to sound boastful... Well he kinda did but that wouldn't make a lot of friends.
(It's funny because Tonight isn't social at all XD)
Tonight grumbled. "I'm Tonight, an inventor." Coffee. I need coffee, his brain begged. He shook that thought out of his head. He was supposed to look dignified, not shaky and hyped up on caffeine.
He walked past the DriftWing and looked around the mansion. It looked dignified, and he was certain he shouldn't be here. A fancy mansion and a dinner party was not where he was born to be. He wasn't social at all!
His eyes rested on a coffee machine. Just one cup? his brain begged. Tonight pressed the button, filling it with coffee. He put milk and sugar in it, then stirred it. He raised it to his lips.
Almost immediately he choked and sputtered. He could feel the odd looks dragons were giving him.
"Decaf," he muttered to himself, wiping it off his chin. "I hate decaf."
Haizhen walked to the front of the large entryway. Grabbing the microphone, he looked over the room of dragons before him. Well... it could've started out worse... Walking over to the large gaggle of dragons, he greeted each one of them.
Upon turning to the Caffeine-deprived Tonight, Haizhen saw the commotion caused by a certain guilty-looking coffee machine. "Oh my, I'm very sorry about that machine. I could get you a cup of the 'real stuff' If you'd like."
The little voice at the back of his head was screaming this time.
Addax yawned hiding herself in the crowd. She prepared herself for what ever Haizhen was gonna plan to do. "Coffee is not my thing," Addax commented.
Dangit, when is this stuff gonna begin. I'm on the edge of killing someone in front of everybody!!!!!!! But her face was still normal instead of she was thinking. Addax tried to to chat with Quintessence. "You excited?" She tried.
(I think at the end of the rp Addax should get arrested)
(sorry I'm late! i was helping my parents paint the bedrooms in our house all day :D)
Quintessence blinked, startled that a dragon was speaking to her again. She was normally very sociable, but she felt out of place here in this desolate mansion. The guests here were proper, rich, and out of her league. She worried that she was out of her depth here at this party. "Oh, yes," she said to the SandWing, trying to sound as mellow as possible. She wanted to seem friendly, but not overexcited and certainly not perky. "I can't wait for dinner." She considered steering the topic towards something that wasn't food. "Um... so what are you here for?"
Crap, Quin, she thought to herself. Could you sound any less formal? "I mean, what's your story? How did you get invited to the most prestigious event of all time? I think the host is a little bit too friendly, don't you think?" She remembered her manners and looked the dragon straight in the eye.
Scythe watched all of these dragons with a particular bordom, if it wasnt for the logic of coming here and actually socializing for one, she wouldnt have came in the first place. She looked around, all of these dragons were rich and classy and yata yata yata.
Scythe wasnt a fan of prim and prissy, she preferred to get her claws dirty with work. Doing such work helped her keep her mind off of...... danggit, she had unconciously started to think about him. Scythe mentally facetaloned herself, she didnt show it on the outside at all, but on the inside she was fuming with herself for letting her even think about it.
Scythe shook her head slight and walked over near the coffe machine. Seeing that the coffe was decafe, she instead opted for the boiling hot water.
Scythe then picked up a pure white mug laced with gold print, she scoffed at the fanciness of it before putting a tea bag in said extravangent cup. She then carefully poured the steaming water into the cup, being in no mood to burn her talons in front of all these dragons she poured the heated water slowly.
Scythe then put the pot back down and grabbed the milk and sugar while she waited for her tea to seep. As soon as her tea was pitch black she poured a small amount of milk in her cup and then LOADED suger into it.
She stirred it throughly before blowing on it and taking a sip. It burned her mouth but it was a nice burn. She needed something hot, sweet, and filled with caffeine to keep her awake and active for this prosterous dinner party.
Seeing a battle hero drinking abnoxiously sweet tea would be a sight to behold if it wasnt for the well known fact the said battle warrior had a serious sweet tooth.
Scythe adressed Tonight quietly without looking at him "Dont worry. I hate decaf as well" she knew what it was like to need something to keep her awake through long nights.
"Soooo, Quint, have you ever been to foxtail? I bet at least someone here has! I've been working on a piece with a guy there, wanna here it? Of course you do!" He breathes deeply and began to sign
"And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I've traveled each and every highway
But more, much more than this
I did it my way
Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it my way
I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill my share of losing
And now, as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say - not in a shy way
Oh no, oh no, not me
I did it my way
For what is a man, what has he got
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way
Yes, it was my way"
"I just feel like it embodies the Foxtail spirit of making a name for yourself what do you guys think?!" He asked hopefully. Quint, I've seen her blogs, well, I sat through a couple. Not my cup of 'non-decafinated' tea. But I suppose I should give everyone a chance to fly.
After getting a cup of proper coffee, Tonight explored the mansion. He shouldn't be here, no way. This was formal, wasn't it?
He found a guest room and sat on the bed. Taking some scrap parts out of his suitcase, he began to think. He couldn't just leave. But he had to. He wouldn't be able to stand the constant hum of voices. And he wouldn't be able to secretly work on an invention without everyone knowing.
Saaaay, Tonight thought, looking down at the rough object he had made. "This could be useful," He said to himself as he slid it into his suitcase. But what about the leaving plan? His brain nagged.
I could get sick. I'd have an excuse to leave. Maybe I could break a bone? Nah, too dangrous. I could make myself throw up? Or maybe I could rewire a thermometer. Dang, I keep forgetting the regular body heat for NightWings.
Tonight sighed, getting up and refilling his coffee cup.
Scythe sipped her tea, it was hot, sweet and it helped keep her awake in this setting. She quietly scoffed at the dragon who was singing a peice and watched as another dragon created some sort of bauble, most likely to either impress or to escape.
Scythe shook her head, she ran one of her pitch black talons gently over her white mask. Her mask had been much desired by many other Deathwings who met her, and mainly because of the faint, light blue swirls and markings that were declared extremly rare. She bristled at the thought of giving her mask away.
She quickly banished the thought and again took to studing the dragons in the room. There was many interesting things to look at, but she wasnt into fancy things. She preferred simple yet elegant objects and designs, but whatever floats these dragons boats.
Scythe really didnt want to go and be social, she just wanted to drink her tea and then go home. But manners insisted that she go at least talk to someone.
Scythe sighed before quickly downing her delicous cup of tea and setting the cup down. Scythe then walked over to the dragon she had just heard singing, she hadnt thought it all tht good but she was to be polite, so she then said without showing any emotion from under her mask "it does"
Scythe wondered who this dragon was, she wasnt much into poetry and all the stuff but she was curious
"Oh thank you! That sounded really... Honest!" Stargazer shouted. ooo a DEATHWING! Are they gonna kill me?! Probably not, they seem really nice. "Scythe right!? I read up on you. Man your really cool! Mabye you could tell me about some of your adventures sometimes?
Huh well I'm a sucker for mercenaries, where's hieroglyph?
Stargazer looked around. "Wait where is Heiroglyph? I didn't see him leave!" He turned to the host. "Have you seen him? Or tonight?" Stargazer was getting worried.
Scythe looked at StarGazer and considered his words before saying "perhaps and yes my name is Scythe" she wondered how this dragon even made it here, with the egocentric peom and all.
Scythe wasnt a large fan of Peoms or the like, but she did appreciate ones that were accurate and finely made. What she heard was a peice based off ego and then messily made to slightly depict Foxtail. She wouldnt say anything though, somehow for some reason this dragon had gotten an invitation, so he may have had some other feat that landed him entrance.
He was royalty if she remembered correctly so that alone may be the reason.
Scythe showed no real emotion from under her glistening white, bone mask. She had become quite skilled at hiding her emotions if she wanted due to the fact that if an enemy knew what you thought, he would know how to defeat you. The only dragon she didnt hide from was her little brother, but he wasnt here, so on her unemotional self went
Scythe wondered idly if this dragons excitment was real or faked, her excitment would have been faked but she wasnt Stargazer, so it may be real. Either way he was quite eccentric for her taste.
Addax snuck up on Hieroglyph and grabbed the nearest heavy object (A chair). She banged it over his head. Quickly, she dragged his body to a diffrent room. The kitchen to be exact. Addax looked through the knives.
She finally settled on a suprisingly large kitchen knife and thought, You'll have a peaceful death, but your friends may suffer a horrible, ugly death... Finally Addax stabbed Hieroglyph deep into his body. Blood spilled and Addax liked it. She cleaned off the knife and stuck in her backpack.
Tonight walked around, tired. He walked into the kitchen (a few minutes after Addax had left). "Oh, wow, a murder! I'm never involved in this kind of thing." Tonight inspected the wound, taking some knives out from the drawer and comparing their sizes. He really needed to make a DNA scanner.
"Hey did you find Heirogkyph yet?" Stargazer walked into the kitchen where Tonight was holding the knife over Heiroglyphs body. "My... You?..." Stargazer panicked and threw a glass at him while he ran out and closed the kitchen door. Locking him in.
Scythe heard the smashing of a chair with her sharp ears and whipped her head around to the where she heard the sound coming from. The Kitchen. Scythe didnt hesitate, she put down her detailed cup and bolted into the kitchen. She growled at the sight.
Hieroglyph dead. Blood pouring from a large stab wound, and from expereince, she knew it was a knife. But a detail she was focused on was Tonight. There he was, checking out knives. Granted they were clean, but he must have cleaned them. Scythe didnt know what her gut was telling her. On one talon he might have just discovered the body, but on the other he was brandishing a knife above the corpse.
Scythe hissed and leaped onto Tonights back. She immediatly grabbed the back of his head with her talons and forced his head to the ground where she then roared for the others "HIEROGYLPH HAS BEEN MURDERED! THERE IS A MURDERER IN THE MANSION"
"Oh, he was?" Addax asked. "I never noticed." She followed the sound of Scythe's loud roar. "Wait maybe he accidently hurt himself when trying to cook a meal." Addax suggested. "Because, accidents happen all the time." She noticed that she was kind of hungry. "Speaking of a meal. We should have one. Haizhen can deal with this."
Tonight struggled under the grip of Scythe, finally wrestling her off. Panting heavily, he looked down the hallway Stargazer had run down. He looked back to Scythe and passed her a syringe. "Take a blood sample of Hieroglyph." He said, stumbling down the hallway. "I need to get to Haizhen before Stargazer."
"There aren't any drugs in the mansion, are there? If there are I'll take some off your talons, for evidence." Addax planned that would be a nice weapon too, but it was highly unlikly there was any in the mansion. She also said that last part real smug like.
Scythe let him go, since he gave her the syringe instead of stabbing her with it, in her books he wasnt the killer. Scythe stalked back into the main room where she caught Addax looking very smug about something. Scythe then said in normal but loud tones to Addax "you seem very pleased with yourself about something. Would you care to tell us what that is?"
Scythe was not dying, at least not in this mansion. She had someone to get back to who needed her.
"That I even came to this mansion. It has so much drama!" Addax smiled. "I'm going to check if there is some snacks." She flashed a look at Hieroglyph's corspe before going.
She flew out. That was extremly close. Alright, who's next? I barley know their names and what they look like! Oh well, I guess I'll go pick a random dragon and use my trusty pistol. Hmm, maybe for some fun I'll use my scorpion tail.
"Hey you!" Stargazer caught up with Addax. "Come in here." They entered a room that looked somewhat like an observatory. "When he died, you seemed really causal about it, do you know why someone might want to kill him?"
"I don't there are just some rude people out there." Addax said. "I'm really casual about his death, because I've seen so many deaths, growing up in the allyways of big cities it really isn't too suprising to see something in the hood every now and then." She walked out of the room and sat down in the outside."
((Well that's not exactly what I had in mind but...))
Stargazer choked. Sputtering up blood. "D-damn." He fell to the ground gasping for air. "Scythe, get through this for me." He suddenly felt his royal defense systems kicking in. well that's not gonna w- and he passed out mid thought in a puddle of blood.
Addax flew quickly. Goodness I have been spotted. They know who I am. Who I really am. That's sad because they were actually pretty cool. She bumped into Quintessence. Without thinking, Addax stabbed her tail into her. She kept it in her until she died which wasn't long. Addax left the body there and flew to a bathroom.
Stargazer woke up, well he didn't wake up so much as he regained conciousnes. What's going on? Why can't I move? He felt cold and suddenly remembered. Oh God! Oh no no no this can't be happening. He remembered what else had happened that night. This should keep me stable but if this bullet isn't taken out soon I'll bleed out! He tried as hard as he could to move.
Addax poked her head out and flew to where Stargazer was. "Hiya!" She greeted him. "Hows your day been?" She put on a grin but her eyes were murderous and happy. "Your day has been amazing? Ah! This brings me an imense amount of happiness!! If you want you can always join my circus of souls."
